Blue day for charity

FORDS from all eras and source markets – some seldom seen in public - will be on display at a brand-pure show in Canterbury later this month.
The All Ford Day at Wigram Air Force Museum in Christchurch on February 19 is run by the Canterbury Mustang Owners’ Club.
A programme running from 10am until 2.30pm is designed as a family day, with proceeds going to charity.
As these images from a previous event show, the day attracts classic, performance, exotic and specialty vehicles.
Canterbury Mustang Owners Club captain Dennis O’Brien says the aim is to have something for everyone, and it’s not just about the cars. Visitors can meet and talk to the owners and other fans.
“Some vehicles are for sale, so if you are interested in joining a club, buying or selling an interesting Ford then it will be the perfect place to make the dream a reality.”
As well as the cars, there’s live music, a model aircraft flying display, market stalls, Inter-club competitions, raffles, prizes, food trucks and refreshments.
Entry is $5 per car for exhibitors, $5 per person or $10 per carload for spectators, with children under 13 years of age allowed in for free.
“We chose to support ‘Grandparents raising Grandchildren’, a local charity many people can relate to and where our contribution will make a big difference,” Mr O’Brien said.
“We will also be donating to Base Youth Cafe Charitable Trust, which provides a safe environment and supports youth development in Ashburton, an area where many of our members are based.”
On the day prior to the display there’s a convoy drive for Ford vehicle owners. Involvers are asked to meet in the Air Force Museum Car Park at 4pm for a 4.15pm departure.
