Mini JCW, convertible prices set

Distributor still mum on where EV editions will site on the pricing ladder.

PRICING for peppy and preppy petrol versions of the new Mini have been shared, but the brand says it isn’t yet ready to say how much it is looking to charge for the electric types that are logically more relevant in the long term.

Yesterday Mini here announced stickers for the Mini Convertible and the John Cooper Works hatchback, which both source from the United Kingdom - whereas the electrics, also in Cooper hatch and Aceman formants, are out of China.

The open top car is a $64,990 choice in its base Classic format with Favoured and JCW Sport trim upgrades respectively priced at $68,990 and $70,990.

The JCW Coop[er hatchback, meantime, will start at $65,990, with a Favoured upgrade adding $4000.

These models run a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol paired with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

The Convertible for NZ comes with a 150kW/300Nm tune; the JCW has 170kW/380Nm.

The electric models are more powerful, but have lower top speeds and likely will deliver more limited ranges.

Full details of the cars were covered last week.
