/Latest appointee moves from Australia to fill role.
CHANGE has come to MG Motor New Zealand, with an industry news outlet reporting that Arek Zywot (above) has resigned from the position of country manager.
The autotalk.co.nz website says Zywot has been replaced by Harrie Yan, formerly the business director for MG Motor Australia.
Zywot, meantime, is said the be seeking new opportunities elsewhere.
The website quote a brand spokesperson as saying this decision coincides with MG Motors’ growth plans for New Zealand.
“Arek Zywot has had the best interests of MG Motor front and centre, and this decision reiterates that. On behalf of the business, we sincerely thank him for his contributions throughout the past year,” the spokesperson is quoted as saying.
“As a result, Harrie Yan has been appointed to the new role of Chief Operating Officer for MG Motor New Zealand, effective July 18, 2024.”
Yan was previously with MG Motor Australia for six years. Prior to that he was in sales, marketing and business development for SAIC Motor in Shanghai. He has also worked for Volkswagen China.
Yan will be the fifth country manager to run the New Zealand business since September 2018. Zywot took on the role 13 months ago, having previously been with Peugeot NZ. His most recent media interaction was the launch of the MG3 hatch in mid-June.
